OVERCOMING SATAN’S STRATEGIES IN THIS OUR CHANGING WORLD

The devil has a track record of bearing evil motives against the people of God. Any man or woman who has chosen to identify with God in this contemporary world has been blacklisted by the enemy.

Satan is a very busy strategist. He puts the plan in place to get across his prey – the believers. He comes up with some of the best plans to overcome his targets. He had never been known to be an idle man. He is not known to be peaceful as well.

In Job 1:7, Satan confirmed to God that he goes to and fro the earth and walks about in it. But he does not move aimlessly. He moves with very great, sinister motives.

There are typical ways he has operated right from the beginning of time. We are going to highlight some of them as evidenced in the scriptures.

  • He comes in a disguised form (2 Corinthians 11:14). The devil does not come as his enemy. He appears too smart to do that. He understands how easy it will be for humans to resist him if he appears in his known colors.

  • He comes in a friendly manner (2 Corinthians 11:3). The devil shows forth in a way that he would be readily accepted. Guiled up as a peaceful, generous personality who no one would easily shake off.
  • He could get to a whole nation through a single man (1 Chronicles 21:1) He has various means of getting to people, but one of his prominent is by coming through one man. In most cases, the selected man could be the most trusted or obeyed. They are always the most trusted person in a group of people.
  • He is no respecter of anointing. In Matthew 4, he came to Jesus, who was just done fasting for 40 days and nights at the time; he came in an attempt to tempt him and make him bow. Jesus, Almighty Jesus was tried by the devil.
  • He comes in silence (Luke 22:31) – It took a special detection for Jesus to know that Satan was attempting to have him without his knowledge. Sometimes, he is very close to us, and we do not know. But thankfully, we serve a God who is the revealer of secrets.
  • He targets the heart more than the body (John 13:2) – Judas was the available vessel, and his heart was the gate to his life. The devil goes about planting thoughts and intents into innocent people’s hearts just to implement his mission.
  • He restrains people’s hearts from believing the gospel (2 Corinthians 4:4)

Our last point outlines his primary weapon by which he wreaks his havoc. If a man has been blocked from receiving words from God, he has set himself up for the enemy’s assaults.

In Ephesians 6, where it was explained that our fight against the enemy is not a fight against the physical. The devil dwells in spiritual wickedness in high places. He cannot be engaged with by the use of mortal weapons. Only by putting on the whole armor of God can a man face the devil.

The various arsenals listed in that chapter identify the truth as a major weapon ‘having your loins girded with the truth,” and the Word of God is truth (John 17:17). Also described as the sword of the spirit (Ephesians 6:17).

The word of God, prayer, faith – Jesus, when he revealed the devil's desire to Simon, said to him, “but I have prayed for you, that thy faith fails not” are some of the weapons we have made available to us.

It is also important to note that as believers, we have the victory already in Christ Jesus (1 Corinthians 15:57). Jesus has fought the battle for us, and victory has been given to us. This reality is what makes our victory over the enemy a possible feat.

Jesus Christ also warned against complacency. Urging us to be vigilant always. Having been made aware of the various devices of the enemy, it is only logical for every believer to be diligently vigilant because it is only by that that we see him coming.

By being watchful, we identify loopholes that the devil might want to exploit. The devil targets a man's soul, the church's soul, to pull it down. WATCH AND PRAY is the crucial commandment to counter satan's tireless advances.

Ignorance is a dangerous weapon. It is a weak point in a believer’s life. 2 Corinthians 2:11, it was noted that the devil could take advantage of us through our ignorance.

Staying informed is by acclimatizing ourselves with the Word of Truth. Dwelling in his secret place and fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit, who would reveal upcoming forces.

The devil is not a gentle devil, the Bible says; he roars like a Lion seeking whom to devour. Aggressiveness while watching is essential.

Watching in prayer should not be done meekly.

We have been well equipped against the wiles of the devil, proper application is what our focus should be.

‘Yet amid all these things we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us”

The devil will keep trying, and we will keep gaining victory, amen.
