Being Closed to the wrong people can ruin a life: Lesson from Lot's Sojourn in Sodom.

Genesis 13:12-13

12 Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.

13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.

We learned from the Bible verses above that Abraham dwelled in the land of Canaan while Lot pitched his tent towards Sodom despite knowing they were wicked people and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.

The kind of people you walk with will determine the type of life you might end up with eventually. The Bible says evil communications corrupt good manners (1 Corinthians 15:33).

Lot was so engrossed with life in Sodom that he was willing to offer his daughters for the people of the land to do whatever they wished instead of having homosexual relations with the angels. Lot begged the city's men not to do this evil thing, and he offered his two virgin daughters to them instead (Genesis 19:4-8).

The Sodomites were angry with Lot because he had grown to behave like a judge in a foreign land (Genesis 19:9). He was so used to their way of life that he could hardly rebuke the homosexual life of the people of the land. One could imagine the level of depravity of his heart in the acceptance that his virgin daughters be gang raped just to satisfy the Sodomites' inquest.

He found himself in this precarious situation because he allowed the greedy and covetous tendency in him to lead him to choose a land before his uncle Abraham because the whole plain of the Jordan toward Zoar was well watered (Genesis 13:10-11). And, by this association, he further pitched his tent toward Sodom.

You must know the kind of friends you associate with as Christians. Who are you pitching your tent to or in association with as a believer?

The kind of close friends you have will either make or mar your destiny. Remember, evil communications corrupt good manners (1 Corinthians 15:33).

Always be on guard concerning those you associate yourself with, as the wrong association could have severe consequences. May the good Lord grant us understanding.

Remain Blessed!
