Hell and Lake of Fire. Do they really Exist?

By admin@heavenlymission.org. Sep 14, 2022

Reflecting on hellfire and lake of fire at a glimpse, one could be confounded at the notation - hell and fire. However, a careful and deep study of the Bible reveals that hellfire and lake of fire differ. To start with, hell is a place of suffering for the souls of the evil dead - Matthew 23:33 (KJV). It is underneath the earth where the wicked dead are bounded and tormented - Proverbs 15:24. A case study of hell in the Bible is found in the story of Lazarus and the rich man - Luke 16:19-31. The Bible recorded that the rich man saw Lazarus in Abraham's bosom while the rich man languished in hell amidst scorching heat and torment of fire - Luke 16:23 (KJV).

Hell could be described as a temporal place of torment. The souls in hell await the final resurrection and judgment according to their works, and anyone found wanting with his name, not in the book of life, will be hurled into the lake of fire - Revelation 20:12; 20:15.

The Lake of fire is the final destination and permanent place of abode for all who are bounded in the current hell after they will have been judged and made aware of their various transgressions. The Bible declared that it is appointed unto man to die once and after death, judgment - Hebrews 9:27.

We need to understand that the lake of fire is designed for Satan, his angels, and any human who rebels against the word of God, and they would be tormented day and night forever and ever - Revelation 20:10; 21:8.

In a nutshell, one could assert that hellfire and the lake of fire refer to the everlasting fire, which is the eternal terminus of sinners, demons, and Satan - Matthew 18:9; Revelation 20:15; Matthew 25:41.

When Jesus died and was resurrected on the cross of Calvary, He destroyed the power of death and the works of Satan as a result. He seized the keys of hell and death from the devil, and we were made to understand that, Jesus is seated at the right hand of God the Father with the keys in His hand. That is why he declared that I am he that lives and was dead; behold; I am alive again and forever more. He is risen - Revelation 1:18.

The Bible affirmed that there is no salvation in any other else except in the name of Jesus - Acts 4:12.

Please, accept the Lord Jesus Christ today as your saviour as He has the power to save and salvage you from sin, hell, and the power of death - Romans 6:23.
