Holiness is a Lifestyle and NOT an activity

Holiness is a Lifestyle and NOT an activity we carry out, how we dress, or how the public perceives our life. The Lord told father Abraham that he should walk before Him and be perfect Genesis 17:1. This happened when he was ninety years old, 15 years after the Lord called him out of Haran. The Lord still emphasized the need for him to live holy. What kind of lifestyle is holiness? The Lord told Abraham to walk before Him and be blameless. It implies that our walking requires consistent guidance from the instruction of the Lord.

Holiness is simply obedience to the word of God.

In the book of Hebrew 12:14 - Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. This revolves rounds our relationship with God and our neighbors. In everything we do, we must ensure that obedience to the word of God is fully established. Holiness has nothing to do with our wardrobe or appearance, but it does have everything to do with our lifestyle.

The Bible reminded us to be holy, for He is holy. 1 Peter 1:16. This is a clear and direct order from the Lord to pattern our lives after His example in our daily transactions. It should be deliberately done to distinguish our life from those who do not know Christ. Psalm 1:1-6. We live in a world that is infiltrated and influenced by darkness and corrupt practices, so our light should shine to influence the darkness around us. Matthew 5:16. We should be like the salt in this generation's thick perverseness and tastelessness. Matthew 5:13

Complete obedience to the word of God should help us live a life that will make us abstain from sin and live a life of holiness. 1 Thessalonians 5:22.

A case on point is that of Joseph and Enoch. The Bible recorded that Enoch walked with God, and Joseph fled from the appearance and inducement of adultery. It is the lifestyle we are talking about, deliberately denying ourselves the pleasure of the flesh for a moment because of heaven. 1 Corinthians 15:19.

The eternity is NEAR. So, to belong to God, you must be born again - 2 Corinthians 5:17. In other words, you need to accept the Lord Jesus as your Lord and personal saviour. It would be best if you allowed the Holy Spirit to work in your life. It will help you to indeed thirst after righteousness and holiness.

If we do not practice a life of holiness and righteousness by simple obedience to the word of God, our hope for eternity is bleak.

So we should strive to live holy in all manner of conversation. 1 Peter 1:15.

Remain blessed.
