Open Heaven For Teens 1 December 2022 – Be A Doer

MEMORISE: But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. James 1:22

BIBLE READING: James 1:21-25

  1. Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
  2. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
  3. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
  4. For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
  5. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Peter 3, Ezekiel 45-46

Not long after I newly gave my life to Christ, I went for Bible Study and the teacher said worldly music invites evil spirits into the home. Immediately I got home, I got rid of all the worldly music I had. I didn’t even look at any for fear of seeing one or two that might make me reconsider my decision.

I acted on the word immediately and disconnected my home from demonic visits. This same attitude is what is expected of you whenever you hear a word that convicts you. John 15:14 says: “Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.” God expects us to be doers and not hearers. As a matter of fact, the blessings of God will come into your life after doing what the word requires of you, not just hearing.

Deuteronomy 28:1-68 lists many blessings, with a condition: ..if thou shalt hearken diligently to the voice of the LORD your God, to observe and to do all his commandments… Don’t be like the man described in our Bible reading for today. Always see yourself through the mirror of the word and amend your way immediately.

When God's word convicts you of something, act on it immediately.

HYMN: Stand Up! Stand Up For Jesus

Stand up! stand up for Jesus,Ye soldiers of the Cross!Lift high His royal banner; It must not suffer loss. From vict’ry unto vict’ryHis army shall He lead,Till every foe is vanquished,And Christ is Lord indeed.

Stand up! stand up for Jesus,The trumpet call obey:Forth to the mighty conlict,In this His glorious day:Ye that are men now serve HimAgainst unnumbered foes;Let courage rise with danger,And strength to strength oppose.

Stand up! stand up for Jesus!Stand in His strength alone:;The arm of llesh will foail you,Ye dare not trust your Own:Put on the gospel armour; And watching unto prayer,Where duty calls, or danger,Be never wanting there.

Stand up! stand up for Jesus! The strife will not be long:This day the noise of battle,The next the victor’s song;To him that overcometh,A crown of life shall be:He with the King of gloryShall reign eternally.
