“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” – 2 Timothy 3:16 (KJV)
John 7:37-42 (KJV) (Scroll down for RCCG Sunday School 6 November 2022 HYMN)
37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
40 Many of the people, therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.
41 Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee?
42 Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?
The Bible is a collection of books used by Christians. As Christians, we believe that God speaks to men through His actions and words as they are written down in the Bible (Ps.68:11). The Bible is the written word of God. It has one author, God Himself. The Bible is ‘God-breathed’ (2Tim.3:16). The Human writers wrote exactly what God wanted them to write, and the result is the perfect and holy word of God (Ps.12:6; 2Pet.1:21). The word “Bible” comes from the Greek word “Biblia” which means “little books.” The Bible is a library of 66 books written by at least 40 different writers over about 1600 years. The oldest book was written about 1500 B.C. or earlier. The last was written about A.D. 100. The Bible was originally written in the Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic languages.
The word God sends is for a purpose: it is to meet needs. For instance, God sends His word:
The students should mention instances of how the word of God came to them directly while going through a particular phase in life.
God’s word instructs on what to do and how to do it (Jn.2:5-8). The word of God came in a very specific manner to Peter (Lk.5:4), Joshua (Josh.1:3), Jonah (Jon.1:1-2), and the disciples (Mk.16:15). While some obeyed, others disobeyed but with dire consequences (Jon.1:3, 12).
God’s word must accomplish its purpose according to His plan (Matt.5:18). The word also sent states when action is to be taken (Eccl.3:1-3). The purpose will be defeated if action is not taken at the right time (2Kgs.5:9-14). Delay is dangerous (Heb.4:7). Jesus followed suit, and we must also follow in His step (Jn.9:4).
The students should state any personal instruction God gave them and how it was carried out.
CONCLUSION: The word is all-embracing. It will meet all your needs – physical, spiritual, social, economic, etc. Hearken, and it shall be well with you.
