Putting on the whole armour of God

Eph 6:11-13

Believers are in this world as pilgrims and cannot afford to relax as though we have reached our destination. While traveling, there are so many battles (spiritual) to fight.

Ephesians 6:12: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Hence the need to put on the WHOLE armour of God.

In verses 11 and 13, there is an emphasis on the Whole armour of God. It is very important that we are fortified with all the armour of God, which are:

The belt of truth vs14a: Satan is the father of lies; the truth is a powerful weapon against the devil.

Breastplate of righteousness vs14b: A breastplate shields a warrior's vital organs from fatal blows.

Preparation of the gospel of peace vs 15: God will fight for you when you preach the gospel.

Shield of faith vs 16: By faith, we can quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

Helmet of salvation vs 17a: Helmet is worn on the head; the head is the seat of the mind, which when it receives the sure gospel of eternal life, will not receive false doctrine nor answer to Satan's temptations.

Sword of the Spirit vs17b: This is the word of God that can be an offensive or defensive weapon for victorious living.

Prayer vs18: Prayer is a dialogue between God and man; it is a means through which we express our reliance and dependence on God. It is how we draw spiritual strength from God, without which our efforts at spiritual warfare are futile.

To be victorious, we need to be committed to prayer because it is where our power lies; "A prayerful Christian is a powerful Christian".

Prayer is an avenue where we pour out hearts out unto the Lord.

There are different types of prayer:

*Prayer of Thanksgiving. Psalm 104

*Prayer of Praise. Psalm 34:1

*Prayer of Worship. John 4:23-24

*Prayer of Supplication: It is a prayer of pleas, particularly by a sinner who is repenting 1Kings8:46-50

*Prayer of Intercession: It is a prayer of pleading for someone. Num14:11-21

*Prayer of Petition/demand: Matt 6:9-11.

*Prayers of command: Isa45:11

*prayer of Decree: Job22:28; 1 Kings 17:1

Note: God is willing to answer every believer willing to pray.

In conclusion, all the weapons of warfare are been worn in front, none is worn at the back; therefore, believers cannot afford to turn back at the battlefront because arrows will hit such at the back
